The Laptop Security Features Hackers Hate
I mentioned business grade laptop security. And that’s because security should be for everyone. Freelancers. Creators. Remote workers. You, at home, watching this video. Basically anyone whose entire life exists on a laptop.
Cybercriminals look for easy targets. If your data has value, you’re a target.
This video is sponsored by ASUS, and while I was at COMPUTEX Taipei, ASUS invited me to check out their newest ExpertBook lineup, including the ExpertBook B5 Flip G2, the ExpertBook P5 G2, and the flagship ExpertBook Ultra.
ASUS is bringing enterprise-grade security features - the kind normally reserved for large corporations - to devices regular consumers and independent professionals can actually buy.
So today we’re talking about the differences between the B-Series and P-Series, what ASUS ExpertGuardian actually does, and why hardware-level security matters more than ever.
So first up, ASUS separates these devices into two main categories.
The B-Series is designed more for large enterprises, power users, and people who want the deepest hardware-level protections possible.
Meanwhile, the P-Series is aimed at prosumers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and privacy-conscious consumers who want professional-grade security without needing a full IT department.
Because if you’re storing contracts, passwords, financial data, client information, tax documents, or personal files on your laptop… security matters.
Let’s start with the new ExpertBook P5 G2.
This is the refreshed version of ASUS’s prosumer-focused business laptop lineup, and it’s powered by the Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 Series 3 processor.
It’s beautiful with a lightweight chassis, clean design, portable form factor. But the bigger story here is ASUS ExpertGuardian.
ExpertGuardian is their layered security framework built into the ExpertBook lineup.
The first layer handles IT-level protections like asset tracking, geofencing, remote management, and centralized BIOS controls.
The second layer focuses on on-device protection, including antivirus defenses and cloud recovery tools that can restore your operating system if something goes horribly wrong.
And then there’s the deepest layer: firmware and hardware protection.
This includes dTPM encryption, boot-level protections, and NIST SP 800-193 firmware resiliency compliance. That is definitely NOT something you see everyday.
Attackers increasingly target firmware itself, not just Windows or apps, so these levels of protection are really important.
ASUS is also implementing post-quantum cryptography protections using NIST-standardized algorithms, which helps future-proof the boot process against next-generation attacks.
Now if you want even deeper enterprise-level protections, that’s where the B-Series comes in.
The new ExpertBook B5 Flip G2 is a convertible laptop with a garaged stylus, updated aluminum chassis, and powered by the Intel® Core™ Series 3 processor.
One of the standout features here is the Dual-ROM self-healing BIOS system available in some B-Series devices.
Basically, there are two physical BIOS chips onboard. If the primary BIOS gets corrupted through a bad update or cyberattack, the backup “Golden ROM” can automatically restore the system firmware.
That is a VERY enterprise-style feature.
Another feature is the Chassis Intrusion system, which uses multiple layers of security to detect if the chassis is opened, and will alert you with a notification if there was possible hardware tampering.
You also get Microsoft Pluton security integration, which embeds the security processor directly into the CPU itself to reduce hardware attack surfaces.
And finally there’s the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra.
This is the flagship model featuring an ultra-light premium chassis and powered by the Intel® Core™ Ultra X7 Series 3 processor.
Even though it’s technically part of the B-Series, ASUS says this one will also be available through retail channels. Very exciting!
People are becoming way more aware of privacy and security risks. We’re storing our entire digital lives on portable devices.
So having hardware-level security creates a much stronger foundation for everything else.
ASUS is taking enterprise-grade protections and making them accessible.
The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is available at the ASUS Store. The ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip G2 and ASUS ExpertBook P5 G2 will soon be available. To learn more, check out the links in the video description.
