The Android Tablet I'd Recommend to Most People in 2026
A sub-$500 Android tablet that is perfectly priced for everything from watching youtube, to multitasking, to taking notes and getting work done. This tablet brings a lot to the table at only $299.99 on sale. It’s the OnePlus Pad Go 2 and it makes Android tablets accessible but also really fun to use.
What’s up S’mores, I’m Shannon Morse, and today we’re taking a look at OnePlus’ budget friendly tablet. This is the Pad Go 2.
The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is the entry point into the OnePlus tablet ecosystem. It’s designed for everyday users who want a big screen, smooth performance, strong battery life, and some actually useful features without paying flagship prices.
So things like Netflix, YouTube, reading, light work, note-taking, and multitasking without the lag. This is very much an all-around entertainment and productivity tablet, not a gaming powerhouse or a laptop replacement, and that’s kind of the point.
You’re getting a 12.1-inch 2.8K display with OnePlus’ signature 7:5 aspect ratio, which I love. It feels more like a book or a sheet of paper compared to the usual wide tablet screens, and OnePlus says you get about 14 percent more active area than a 16:10 display. Reading, browsing, split-screen multitasking, all of it feels comfortable at this aspect ratio.
It also supports up to 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, great color accuracy, and up to 900 nits of brightness in high brightness mode. That nits brightness is relatively low compared to recent Android tablets, so it won’t be as great for outdoor use.
Add in four speakers with OnePlus Omnibearing Sound Field tech, and the audio automatically adjusts depending on how you’re holding the tablet - that’s a pretty cool feature. Watching movies on this thing feels way more premium than the price would suggest.
Oh, and it’s TÜV Rheinland Smart Care certified, which means reduced eye strain. I have old lady eyeballs so I appreciate that.
Under the hood, the Pad Go 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This is not meant to replace your laptop, but for everyday tasks, it’s smooth and responsive.
Scrolling is fluid, apps open quickly, and multitasking works really well thanks to Open Canvas. You can run two apps side-by-side plus a floating window, and it doesn’t feel cramped thanks to that taller 7:5 screen.
OnePlus also includes all their ecosystem features here, which is nice to see at this price point. If you have a OnePlus phone, you get screen mirroring, clipboard sync, shared gallery, and app relay. If you’re on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows, O+ Connect lets you wirelessly share files. Android users can use Quick Share. It’s pretty seamless.
Battery life is another strong point. The Pad Go 2 packs a 10,050mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC charging.
OnePlus claims up to 15 hours of video playback or 53 hours of music playback. I did a battery drain test by playing streaming 4k video footage from youtube at 100% brightness, and it lasted about 7 hours total. Personally I think that is a little low and did not hit my expectations. On the contrary, I’ve used it for streaming, browsing, note-taking, and split-screen multitasking, and I’m not constantly reaching for a charger with NORMAL usage. If you aren’t doing a drain test, you can easily get over 12 hours of usage out of this thing by doing regular productivity tasks.
A full charge takes a little over two hours, and it also supports 6.5W reverse charging, which means you can top up your earbuds or phone in a pinch. That’s a nice bonus.
OnePlus also launched the Pad Go 2 Stylo, which is sold separately.
The stylus supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, low latency, and has a soft rubber tip that feels good on the screen. Battery life is solid too, up to 20 hours, and a 10-minute charge can give you around 12 hours of use.
The software works really well. The Notes app has advanced handwriting recognition that converts your writing into editable text, handwriting enhancement that cleans things up, a handwriting calculator that solves equations as you write them, and smart editing gestures.
On top of that, you get a full suite of AI tools, if you choose to use them. AI Writer helps generate or polish text. AI Recorder transcribes meetings and lectures with speaker identification. AI Editor lets you remove objects from photos, unblur images, boost details, and remove reflections. There’s also AI Translate, summaries, and an AI Speaker that reads content out loud.
Google Gemini is integrated too, including Circle to Search, and there’s even a dedicated AI button on the lock screen for quick access.
For a low cost tablet, they’ve packed quite a lot of features into it.
Design-wise, the Pad Go 2 looks clean and modern. It’s 6.83mm thin, weighs about 597 grams, and comes in Shadow Black. It has a smooth matte finish and is exclusive to the 5G model.
It feels solid without being heavy, and it’s easy to hold for long reading or streaming sessions.
Cameras are simple but fine here. You get an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. They’re good enough for video calls, scanning documents, and the occasional photo, nothing more than that though.
It runs OxygenOS 16, and OnePlus has TÜV SÜD certification for 48 months of smooth performance.
The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is not trying to be the most powerful tablet on the market, but it works really well for such a low price point. It nails the basics with a great screen, excellent battery life, smooth performance, genuinely useful multitasking, and a surprising amount of AI features.
If you’re a student, a casual creator, a media junkie, or someone who wants a solid tablet that doesn’t cost a small fortune, this is a really compelling option.
As of April 2026, OnePlus has told outlets that “OnePlus North America is evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy. All users' after-sales support, software updates, and rights commitments are fully guaranteed.”
So do you want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a device in the NA market? Maybe not, but OnePlus is still very much available overseas.
